Awareness returned with something missing. There was a void, an emptiness, a vacuum that
evaded his grasp each time he attempted to clutch it. After four cycles spent struggling to keep
the unwelcome presence under control, the sudden absence resulted in disorientation. It felt like a
bad case of mental diarrhea; there was a warm, loose, flooding feeling inside his mind that defied
all attempts to keep things in check.
This time it was for real.
Harvey was gone.
A small sound captured his interest. Someone was lying beside him.
