It looked like a radio-controlled hovercraft. Crichton watched, unconvinced, as the merchant
piloted the airborne device around the interior of the building.
“For a child,” the smiling alien said. “A toy, generous sir.”
“Hang on.” John stuck his head out the door, spotted Aeryn, and called to her. “Need you!”
She arrived at a lope. Her verdict was delivered in a tone that left no room for argument. “Turn
that off. Now!”
The black and red object drifted to a stop.
“Bomb?” John asked.
“Very large bomb.”
“Anti-personnel?”
“Half a city.”
The shopkeeper glanced at the nondescript ‘toy’ and fainted.
